Labor Relations Consultant

Position Overview:
This position will be a Labor Relations Consultant in the Labor Relations Division within Southern California Edison (SCE)'s Corporate Center Business Unit (CCBU). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the consistent application of labor policies, procedures, and contractual agreement.
Typical Responsibilities :
+ Consulting with managers and supervisors regarding labor agreements, labor relations, employee relations, grievances, arbitrations, and disciplinary action; conducting investigations;
+ Performing various research assignments involving Company/Union negotiations, grievances/arbitrations, and historical practices;
+ Providing training to managers/supervisors on labor relations topics;
+ Negotiating interim agreements with Union leadership;
+ Interfacing with Union leadership to resolve/negotiate specific labor matters;
+ Working regularly with Human Resources' disciplines, including but not limited to benefits, compensation, employee relations, equal opportunity, talent management, disability management, and other corporate entities;
+ Train, guide, assist and support leaders of represented employees in administering the Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) within assigned areas.
+ Assist in the interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement.
+ Meets regularly (attends client staff meetings) to understand issues affecting their operations relative to the CBA.
+ Provide guidance to supervisors and managers at all levels, as it relates to disciplinary action of personnel who are not performing up to the standards established by the CBA and company policies.
+ Assist all levels of management with Performance Management issues in order to avoid grievances.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal employment/labor laws and company policies while maintaining maximum protection of Company assets.
+ Researches grievance history, past-practice and relevant labor laws in coordination with Legal in preparation for grievance and fact- finding meetings with the Union as required to resolve.
+ Evaluate the Company?s potential liability and performs risk analysis in order to determine appropriate Company actions in response to grievance activities.
+ Facilitates (hears) the grievance and fact-finding processes while functioning as the mediator throughout the multistep grievance process.
+ Identify, analyze, and influence the effective resolution of grievances and recommends appropriate disciplinary actions in order to maintain a productive work environment and achieve optimal performance, and minimize risk.
+ Provide decisions and negotiate grievance results with line management and supervision and union
+ Develop and maintains good working relationship with Union Leadership and their labor stewards.
+ Supports overall Labor Relations activities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Five years of Labor Relations experience working in a unionized environment.
+ Five years of experience working with Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in the Labor Relations field.
+ Demonstrated experience performing Labor Relations duties including leading negotiations, arbitration advocacy, investigations and grievance meetings.
+ Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying corporate labor strategy, company policies, Federal and State employment laws and various Union/Company Agreements.
+ Demonstrated experience dealing with sensitive, confidential, and proprietary information.
+ Demonstrated experience working independently and in a team environment on projects with high visibility and impact to the company.
+ Demonstrated experience consulting with management, employees, union officials, and outside agencies on significant labor issues in high conflict situations.
+ Demonstrated experience supervising or managing represented employees.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in administering the progressive discipline process.
+ Demonstrated ability to allocate time efficiently by effectively managing multiple demands and competing priorities.
+ Must have excellent communication skills to comprehend and effectively assess Union position/proposals and effectively communicate back to line management.
+ Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
+ Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
+ Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
+ Must be willing to travel in the SCE service territory using personal vehicle.
+ Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
