Sr. Financial Analyst (Financial Analyst, Senior Specialist)

Position Overview:
The Financial Analyst will part of the
Operational Finance group within the Finance organization at SCE supporting the
Transmission & Distribution Operating Unit. The successful candidate will
be responsible for performing research and analyses to support the effective
utilization and treatment of the Company?s financial assets. Develops recommendations on long and short-term
investments and risk management. Devises pricing, capital expenditure and
O&M expense, and capital recovery strategies to achieve corporate financial
goals. Develops models to forecast
business conditions and to support Corporate and departmental decision
making. Reviews and assesses impacts of
changing regulations. Develops and analyzes data and writes compelling
testimony and responses to regulatory agencies in support of rate, regulatory,
and demand side management activities in compliance with regulatory
requirements.
Responsibilities
+ Acts as a consultant to operational units ordepartments; plans all aspects of analyses, presentations, and implementationstrategies for either a portion of, or a complete complex analysis; and usuallyresponsible for implementation of selected recommendations.
+ Utilizes existing or devises new, innovativemodels and methodologies; and determines the need for analysis in response tochanging business conditions and the appropriate modeling and formulas toapply.
+ Knowledgeable about sources of data and resourcesavailable to access information; accountable for the accuracy and integrity offindings and recommendations.
+ Develops or reviews drafts of, and assists ormakes presentations to the senior executive management, department and divisionmanagement, and other interested parties.
+ Weekly contact with other organizations,regulators, and standards/rules setting bodies.
+ May provide functional direction to otheranalysts and support personnel.
+ Highly influential on decision making and maymake final decisions consistent with organizational authorization levels havingmoderate impact on department or company.
+ Specializes in understanding of financialconcepts not generally found in the company or department/division.
+ Calculates unit cost, labor cost, overheadallocations, and/or contract, services and material cost needed to developbudgets, and compare actual to budgeted costs to support variance analysis andforecasting without supervision.
+ Builds cost expertise and performs cost trendanalysis using historical and external data to support operationaldecision-making and continuous cost improvement without supervision.
+ Establishes recommendations and conclusionsbased on analysis of complex data.
+ Develops and executes opportunities toenhance operational finance reports, analytical tools, and self-servicecapabilities in collaboration with IT to drive efficiency for operationalfinance and support operational decision making.
+ Provides advice and recommendations in thefield of financial analysis.
+ Maintain a safety conscious work environmentby following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performingother responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, Finance,Economics or similar field.
+ Four years of experience with financialand/or quantitative analysis, and accounting methodologies.
+ Four years of experience developing,validating, and presenting financial statistics and models.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Typically possesses six years of experiencein the field of accounting and/or financial analysis, and analyzing andinterpreting financial statements.
+ Demonstrated experience with ?utility?financial planning and accounting methodologies.
+ Experience interpreting and applying GeneralAccepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
+ Demonstrated experience with forecasting andperforming cost benefit/trend analysis.
+ Demonstrated experience with SAP.
+ Demonstrated experience building reports andability to track, analyze and maintain the accuracy and integrity of largeamounts of data using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and databases.
+ Demonstrated experience leading projects andworking with cross-functional teams.
+ Demonstrated experience communicatingfinancial information to various audiences including senior management.
+ Ability to work with confidential informationand maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality.
+ Ability to work independently and in a teamenvironment, including identifying project needs, prioritizing multipleprojects and following through all assignments.
+ Must have strong oral and writtencommunication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to interface effectivelyand collaborate with peers, clients, management, and other organizations.
+ Must demonstrate the ability to integratework across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhancecustomer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop andexecute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service tointernal and external customers.
