About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison?s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE?s 5 million customer accounts.
Position Overview
The Senior Manager of the Intake Process & Compliance Team within Grid Interconnection Contract Development will lead a team of advisers and analysts toward successful management of the generation interconnection request intake process, including tariff compliance and maintaining SCE's integrated grid interconnection queue. Identifies policy/process issues resulting from evolution of regulation, customer requests or situations, engineering/technical advances, and internal/external process evolution. Develops proposals (including controls) for identified policy and/or process revisions to address process and policy needs. Collaborates with utility stakeholders as well as customers to achieve consensus on any changes to policies/processes.
Responsibilities may include:
+ Manages grid interconnections data including maintaining accessible data required for regulatory compliance as well as ad hoc inquiries by regulators, SCE management, and others
+ Manages the compliance function for GICD, including coordination with Regulatory Operations and maintaining the GICD Portal including the Quality and Compliance Manual
+ Establishes team goals in alignment with process and regulatory requirements
+ Ensures optimal interconnection queue process management
+ Determines and implements team strategies to fulfill intake process needs
+ Participates and at times leads policy and regulatory discussion on behalf of department
+ Informs senior leadership of department metrics performance and organization change needs
+ Engages peer department management to ensure process flows are continually optimized
+ Collaborates regularly with stakeholder leadership to provide appropriate alignment between SCE impacted departments
+ Periodically represents SCE before the CPUC, CAISO, and FERC as required for policy and regulatory proceedings
+ Provide day-to-day guidance to direct reports within the GI&CD group on interconnection requests and processes, contract development, issue resolution, and quality customer service.
+ Manage the workload, resources, schedules, budgets, risks, and product quality
+ Select staff and managing employee performance and development; providing strategic leadership and support to key department-wide initiatives.
+ Develop policies, business plans, and key initiatives that align with business strategy and customer requirements.
+ Provide support and guidance on interconnection related proceedings and filings with the FERC and the CPUC.
+ Create and maintain a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
+ As needed, provides briefings and recommendations to management to obtain authorization and provide awareness of escalated issues
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor?s degree in any one or more of the following: Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Business, Management, Information Systems
+ Five or more years of experience managing/supervising process and project oriented teams
+ Five or more years of experience influencing and contributing to policy and regulatory developments affecting regulated entities
Desired Qualifications
+ Master?s Degree or MBA ? Focus on Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering
+ Experience or certification in Lean and Six Sigma process optimization
+ Experience with operational planning, process flow development, strategic planning, and tactical implementation
+ Experience with Rule 21, WDAT, Transmission Operator Tariff jurisdictional issues
+ Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning
+ Experience managing and optimizing business process flows
+ Experience presenting to senior leaders at all levels of the enterprise
+ Possesses understanding of transmission-related contract development and negotiation.
+ Experience with transmission and distribution systems, generation, and/or related planning/operations/markets.
+ Implementing change initiatives, such as process improvement.
+ Experience working with regulatory agencies such as FERC and CPUC.
+ Developing and implementing strategic business plans and/or policies that have a significant impact on the organization.
+ Demonstrated experience using project management techniques to establish and maintain schedules, product quality, and budgets.
+ Ability to manage talent by selecting and developing employees to fill talent gaps, by motivating others to achieve long-term strategic goals, and by managing performance to achieve results.
+ Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
+ Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

+ Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
+ Position will require 15% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
