Energy Contract Management (ECM)manages and administers SCE's energy-related contracts, by enforcing theprovisions of all executed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) during projectdevelopment and throughout the term of the PPA.
Position Overview
The Settlements Operations Specialist rotational role in EnergyContract Management (ECM) is geared toward early-career professionals to serveas an in-depth introduction to the settlement of a varied portfolio ofcontracts from simple to very complex in structure. The successful candidate will utilizeanalytical proficiency and collaborative work skills to support all areas ofSettlements by rotating through each of the functional areas, all critical toproviding safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy to SCE's customers. The rotational Specialist will serveapproximately 12 months in Contract Settlements and 12 months in CAISOSettlements for a total of two years on the job. After two years, the rotational Specialistwill join the Settlements Development team to support RFO contractsolicitations and negotiation, contract administration of energy contracts,provide analytical support to ensure contract compliance and disputemanagement. The successfulcandidate will play a critical cross-functional role within each area inSettlements to ensure business readiness, performing settlements for powerprocurement agreements, and validating that the CAISO accurately settles marketcharges with SCE.
The position will ultimately report directly tothe Senior Manager of Settlements Development Support. The successful candidate will have strongproject management and communication skills. Intellectual curiosity and strong drive are required.
Typical Responsibilities:
Solveproblems and perform analyses of new business situations through coordinationacross the Settlement functions.
Evaluateand manage contract requirements, review payments, manage disputes and makestrategic recommendations to maximize benefits to customers
Providesupport related to origination activities, including participation in RFOcontract solicitations and negotiation, pro forma development, contractadministration, and dispute management of agreements for buying, selling, andtransporting of energy-related products such as bilateral power and naturalgas, renewable and alternative power, combined heat and power, transmission,and emissions.
Interpretscontract payment terms into formula equivalents.
Knowledgeableabout sources of data and resources available to integrate and presentinformation regarding contract terms and CAISO market mechanisms as it relatesto settlements.
Utilizesexisting or devises new, innovative models and methodologies to correlate largevolumes of data into contract payments.
Performqueries to formulate algorithms and create macros.
Understandssystem capabilities and communicates contract settlements business knowledge.
UnderstandsISO markets and correlations to SCE's power contract payments.
Establishesrecommendations and conclusions based on analysis of data.
Identifyand execute process improvement opportunities across existing processes withinthe Settlements group.
Maintainsa safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols andsafe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties asassigned.
Performother responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) or moreyears of work experience with financial analysis, contract settlements,contract management, electricity trading or marketing, and/or projectmanagement.
Intermediateexperience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills including the ability to preparereports and present complex technical information to a wide audience, innon-technical language.
Strongethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, initiative, and interpersonalskills as well as the ability to effectively multi-task and enthusiasticallyengage in continuous learning.
Desired Qualifications
Experiencewith electricity markets in functions related to contract settlements, contractmanagement, electricity trading or marketing, including experience withcalculating payments for energy and capacity contracts such as renewables,conventional power, combined heat and power, demand response, energy storageand/or natural gas.
Experienceanalyzing complex financial, regulatory, and/or business problems.
Understandingof the CAISO or other energy market design.
Experiencewith CAISO Settlements and energy and capacity markets.
Effectiveproject management skills, decision making, results delivery, team building,and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovations.
Experienceresearching information, analyzing it, preparing reports and making recommendations.
Experiencedeveloping and delivering technical presentations to both technical andnon-technical audiences.
Experiencecompleting multiple projects concurrently while adjusting to changingpriorities.
Experienceinterfacing and collaborating with clients, peers, management, and othercross-functional teams.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
