The (EPM)Organization ensures that SCE customers have enoughelectricity to meet their needs, through the output of SCE-owned generationplants and the purchase of electricity from independent generators. We engagein multi-year contracts from both conventional and renewable generators, andconduct day-ahead and real-time trading to serve our customers' electricitydemands.
Position Overview:
The Energy ProcurementData Science Senior Specialist will be responsible for working closely withbusiness clients, subject matter experts, information architects, dataengineers, and other team members to turn data into critical information andknowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions in SCE's EnergyProcurement and Management (EPM) organization. The successful candidate willlead the development of predictive and prescriptive models using advancedstatistics and machine learning methods to solve business problems in theenergy portfolio planning, trading and market operations, and settlements andcontract management groups.
The Data Scientist willbe a creative thinker who will be responsible for modeling complex analyticalproblems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use ofstatistical, algorithmic, data mining and visualization techniques. In additionto advanced analytical skills, the individual in this role should be proficientat preparing and integrating large, varied datasets, overseeing theimplementation of advanced analytical solutions on an EPM data analyticsplatform, and communicating results.
The position will workin cross-functional project teams and reports directly to the Principal Managerof EPM Systems and Analytics. The successful candidate will have strongquantitative skills, extensive experience with modern data analytics,familiarity with big data systems, and extensive knowledge of informationtechnology systems.
Provide direction for data analytics in support of EPM's energy portfolio planning, trading and market operations, and settlements and contract management groups
Participate in or lead data analytics projects that perform functions such as: access, validate, and analyze electricity usage and production data from customer meters, generators and DERs; identify behind-the-meter renewable generation resources and electric vehicle charging patterns; utilize weather data to perform analytical tasks across EPM; and other similar projects
Develop procedures and data pipelines to extract and prepare large data sets from sources such as the energy markets, customer meter data, and transmission and distribution SCADA data to support data analytics projects
Help improve existing quantitative models using advanced analytical tools
Provide advanced analytics expertise to EPM by participating in cross-functional predictive and prescriptive analytical projects

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Information Technology, Business or related discipline
3 years of experience in implementing information systems
3 years of experience working with advanced analytical systems such as R, Hadoop, SAP HANA, SAS, Spark or similar systems
Experience developing, implementing and integrating IT systems in the electric utility or similar industry
Experience participating in cross-functional project teams
Experience in data modeling and knowledge of SQL, XML, etc.
Ability to learn and apply new technologies for data analytics
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Information Technology, Business or related discipline or equivalent experience
Experience consulting with clients on the initiation, scoping, development and implementation of data analytics or IT projects
Five years of experience managing cross-functional project teams
In-depth understanding of data analytics, data engineering, and data management processes
Experience in IT project management and agile development practices
Experience providing consulting and advisory services
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA
Relocation is available for qualified candidates

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
