Position Overview
As a contract manager for Southern California Edison you will partner with clients and contractors to ensure Edison receives the highest value from it's over $4 Billion in annual spend. It's challenging but rewarding work.
Your interpersonal and analytical skills will be fully exercised as you manage a variety of contracts with a focus on cost savings, compliance and risk mitigation. Responsibilities will include conducting RFPs, monitoring contractor performance, participating in cross functional project teams, and advising clients on their business strategies.
This position is part of a Supply Management team of three supporting Edison's Environmental and Vegetation Management departments.
Vegetation Management plays a pivotal role in SCE's responsibility for delivering quality power to its customers as safely and economically as possible. Trees and vegetation present major obstacles in meeting those responsibilities. Service interruptions, fires, damage, and power system failures can be caused by trees, tree limbs, or palm fronds contacting or falling across utility power lines. Your responsibilities support contract management activities that oversee a network of over 800 thousand trees spanning our territory.
With over 50,000 square miles of service territory, SCE must maintain environmental compliance with all federal, state and local regulations; this is where the Environmental Services department comes in. Your contractual activities span a range of key project areas that ensure compliance in the following areas: water quality, air quality, oil spill prevention, hazardous waste management, hazardous materials, avian protection, rare species protection, cultural resources, and habitat mitigation and restoration.
This position may also support additional Edison workgroups, depending on future demand.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
Monitor and enforce supplier performance goals related to cost, quality, and service.
Lead competitive solicitations including job walks, bid evaluation, negotiations, supplier selection, and contract development to drive value and ensure appropriate risk mitigation.
Partner with suppliers to ensure adherence to Edison's Supplier Diversity goals.
Understand, interpret, and apply business tools (financial, logistical, commercial, risk, and cost analysis) to attain desired results.
Support the development and implementation of category strategies and business processes to meet company, department, and business unit objectives.
Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Act as liaison between operational unit and suppliers in an effort to efficiently execute work.
Determine the appropriate buying strategy to maximize value provided to the business unit.

Minimum Qualifications
Five years experience working with large contracts in a procurement or project management function.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations, group facilitation and negotiations.
Excellent analytical skills with a proven ability to scrutinize complex data to make decisions and clearly support those decisions with objective rationale.
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
Proficiency transacting in the SAP business platform including Ariba Sourcing Pro and Ariba Contracts Pro.
Demonstrated experience leading the competitive proposal process (RFx).
Demonstrated experience with procurement contracts and standard terms and conditions.
Demonstrated experience with service related contracts including fixed price, fixed unit price, time and material contracts.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and clients simultaneously.
Ability to apply principles of financial analysis.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas.
Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, and the ability to effectively manage stress.
Demonstrated ability to follow safety protocols and safe work practices.
Negotiation and authoring of complex service contracts including EPC and Long Term Service Agreements.
Primary Location US-CA-Rosemead. Optional work locations: Pomona, Santa Ana,Rialto.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
