About Energy Procurement & Management: Energy Procurement & Management's (EPM's) mission is to ensure that our customers have enough electricity to meet their needs, through the output of SCE-owned generation plants and purchase of electricity from independent generators. We engage in multi-yearcontracts from both traditional and renewable generators, and conduct day-ahead and real-time trading to serve our customers' electricity demands.   Position Overview: The Senior Specialist position will be in the Trading and Market Operations group within the EPM organization. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager of Energy Forecasting and will be responsible for providing commodity price forecasts for energy, ancillary services, and other energy products, in the day-ahead through 90 day-ahead timeframe. The major responsibilities of the Forecasting group include forecasting electricity demand and prices. The forecasts are used for wholesale procurement of electricity for SCE customers and optimal scheduling of resources in the California energy markets. The group works closely with portfolio planning, trading, operations, and strategic planning groups. Another major responsibility of the Forecasting group is Distributed Energy Resource (DER) strategy and integration and the successful price forecasting candidate will work closely with that function to determine the optimal price forecasts for specific DERs including Demand Response, Energy Storage, Distributed Generation, and Electric Vehicle resources. Typical Responsibilities: Provide operational coverage for forecasting short-term Locational Marginal Prices and Ancillary Service (e.g. Regulation Up, Regulation Down, Spinning Reserve, and Non-Spinning Reserve) prices; Support and maintain existing statistical forecast models and develop new models to improve forecast performance; Analyze current pricing trends and propose, vet, and implement resource and load bidding strategies in partnership with Senior Leadership; Provide operational coverage for forecasting short-term load forecasts as needed Provide system development and maintenance support for SCE's forecasting models and other analytical tools; Partner and collaborate with the Trading, Day-ahead & Real-Time Operations, and Resource Optimization groups within EPM to perform and manage short-term procurement tasks, including, but not limited to power trading, gas scheduling, position management, and resource bidding; Work collaboratively across the entire organization, supporting efforts with subject matter experts (e.g. Portfolio Planning and Analysis groups) Partner and collaborate with the Strategy, Planning, and Operational Performance organization to shape and forecast longer term forecasts used in position management; Partner and collaborate with the Customer Programs and Services organization to develop price forecasts for behind-the-meter DERs; Support EPM's Systems and Analytics group as needed; Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; Five years of electric experience in power procurement, power systems operations, and/or wholesale power market operations, particularly in California; Three years of statistical and quantitative analysis experience; Two years of project direction and/or project management experience in large complex work environments; Experience forecasting, planning, and analyzing market trends; and Experience with leading teams, communication, presentation, and negotiating  to build consensus with stakeholders to develop and maintain partnerships with support organizations and senior management. Desired Qualifications Graduate degree in  Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; Five or more years in quantitative analytics related to energy markets; Experience developing financial models for valuing assets in competitive power, capacity, and natural gas markets; Basic understanding of security-constrained unit commitment and economic dispatch as well as transmission level impact to market prices; and PMP or equivalent project/program management credentials. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
