Load Forecasting Senior Specialist

Position Overview The Senior Specialist position will be in the Trading and Market Operations department within the EPM organization. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager of Energy Forecasting and will be responsible for providing net and true load forecasts in the hour-ahead through 90 day-ahead timeframe for SCE and ISO service territories. The forecasts are used for wholesale procurement of electricity for SCE customers and going forward will be used to understand the state of the distribution grid and aid in the dispatch of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) as needed.   The major responsibilities of the Forecasting group include forecasting electricity demand and prices. The group works closely with portfolio planning, trading, operations, business resiliency, and strategic planning groups to ensure that downstream groups have the information they need for their transactions and functions. Another major responsibility of the Forecasting group is DER strategy and integration. The successful load forecasting candidate will work closely with that function to forecast the energy output for specific DERs including Demand Response, Energy Storage, Distributed Generation, and Electric Vehicle resources at different levels and aggregations throughout SCE's distribution grid.   Typical Responsibilities: Provide operational coverage for forecasting short-term net and true load in the hour-ahead through 90 day-ahead timeframe for SCE and ISO service territories; Provide operational coverage for forecasting DER energy output in the hour-ahead through 90 day-ahead timeframe; Analyze Smart Meter Data and Community Choice Aggregation statistics to forecast the impact of load departure on SCE's bundled load; Prepare seasonal forecasts and provide weekly updates as needed; Support and maintain existing forecast models and develop new models to improve forecast performance using SAS and other statistical software; Analyze forecasting errors and trends and propose, vet, and implement load bidding strategies in partnership with Senior Leadership; Provide operational coverage for forecasting short-term Locational Marginal Prices and Ancillary Service (e.g. Regulation Up, Regulation Down, Spinning Reserve, and Non-Spinning Reserve) prices as needed; Provide system development and maintenance support for SCE's forecasting models and other analytical tools; Partner and collaborate with the Trading, Day-ahead & Real-Time Operations, and Resource Optimization groups within EPM to perform and manage short-term procurement tasks, including, but not limited to power trading, gas scheduling, position management, and resource bidding; Partner and collaborate with the Customer Services organization to develop generation forecasts for behind-the-meter DERs; Partner and collaborate with the Transmission and Distribution organization to outline the specifications to the Grid Management System to forecast short-term true load forecasts, net load forecasts, and DER generation forecasts at the circuit level or higher-level aggregation; Work collaboratively across the entire organization, supporting efforts with subject matter experts (e.g. Portfolio Planning and Analysis groups); Partner and collaborate with the Strategy, Planning, and Operational Performance organization to forecast longer term load forecasts used in position management as needed; Support EPM's Systems and Analytics group as needed; Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications   Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; Five years of statistical and quantitative analysis experience using SAS or other statistical software; Three years of experience developing, maintaining, and/or utilizing regression, time-series, neural network, and machine learning models; Two years of project direction and/or project managementexperience in large complex work environments; Experience in quantitative analytics related to power procurement, power systems operations, and/or wholesale power market operations, particularly in California; Experience gathering data from different sources and formats (MS Excel, Access, Oracle, SQL, XML, etc.) and compiling it for the ease of analysis; Experience coding in SAS statistical software; Experience in communicating, and negotiating to build consensus with senior staff and stakeholders to develop and maintain partnerships with support organizations and senior management. Desired Qualifications: Graduate degree in  Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; Three or more years of experience coding in SAS statistical software; Three or more years in quantitative analytics related to power procurement, power systems operations, and/or wholesale power market operations, particularly in California; Demonstrated experienceforecasting, planning, and analyzing market trends; Demonstrated experience preparing findings and presenting complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences; and PMP or equivalent project/program management credentials. 71023344

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
