Purchasing Agent at Activ8 Rosemead, CA
A trading company is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join their office in Rosemead, CA.
Japanese language skills are a big plus but not mandatory.
2 years of purchasing experience preferred but not mandatory, must have 1 year of office work experience or 1 year of experience working at a trading company (food trading company experience is a big plus.
) This is a full-time position, non-exempt, with excellent benefits including 401K.
Hourly rate is dependent on past experience/skills.
Purchasing Agent Duties:
-Manages relationship with suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, andcompliance to terms of contracts -Researches and develops products for the Company to sell by tasting and evaluating sampleproducts, visiting production companies, and working with the sales departments and warehouse to identify customer needs and preferences -Researches new suppliers for alternative to out-of-stock products and customer requests -Analyzes past sales data regarding product sales volume and creates purchase orders based on sales volume, forecast, and inventory -Issues purchase orders and send them to suppliers -Based on the receiving documents sent from warehouse, calculate cost and post the purchase orders to inventory and forward them to accounts payable -Sets up item stock and vendor numbers -Conducts inventory checks for discrepancies and near expiring or expired products -Coordinates with warehouse for new product shipments and release orders Purchasing Agent Skills:
-Business level English required; Business level Japanese preferred -2
years of purchasing experience preferred -Knowledge of ERP systems, especially AS400, highly preferred -Knowledge of Japanese foods and liquors preferred -Passes the Sake Adviser course within 1 year of employment -High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's Degree in business preferred -Able to use the computer and type for extended periods -Able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally -Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
